Location

The main event will be held the 22nd and 23rd of November 2005, at the Centro Municipal Gijón-Sur, Gijón, Asturias, Spain. The 24th of November, during the morning, a XHTML2 / XForms tutorial will be offered at the Escuela Universitaria de Ingeniería Técnica Informática Oviedo, Asturias, Spain.

How to get to Centro Municipal Gijón-Sur (November 22-23)

From the Asturias (OVD) airport

Take A-8 entrance (to Aviles), follow the signs to Gijón. (See the directions from A-8 highway).

From A-8 highway (from Santander)

Exit A-8 highway at exit 389 (Gijón, Av. Constitución, Porceyo). Follow the signs into Gijón city.

From A-8 highway (from Oviedo-Avilés)

Exit A-8 highway at exit 390 (Gijón, Av. Constitución, Porceyo). Follow the signs into Gijón city.

Gijón entrance

Drive straight ahead along AS-18 to Gijón (Av. Constitución). After 3 kilometres (2 miles) you will find the shopping Center Costa Verde (Centro Comercial Costa Verde). Pass the shopping center and turns right into Ramón Areces street. The Centro Municipal de Pumarín (Gijón-Sur) is on that street, some 50 metres (54 yards) away.

How to get to Escuela Universitaria de Informática in Oviedo (November 24)

From the Asturias (OVD) airport

Take A-8 to Avilés and follow the signs to Oviedo (from Gijón-Avilés-Santander).

From A-66 (from Gijón-Avilés-Santander)

Take exit 31 to Oviedo(Centro)/Grado/La Espina. Some meters away follow the signs into Oviedo city/Plaza de Castilla.

From A-66 (from Mieres-León-Madrid)

Take exit 119 to Oviedo City center (Oviedo Centro). Follow the signs into Oviedo.

Oviedo entrance

Drive into Oviedo city center (Oviedo centro) through Avenida de León until you get the roundabout (Plaza Castilla), then turn right. Drive straight ahead González Besada street for about 300 metres (328 yards) and then take the first street to your right. The Escuela Universitaria de Informática building is on that street, some 100 metres (109 yards) away.

Transportation details

The Asturias airport is about 45 kilometers away from Gijón and Oviedo. Airport code is OVD. Attendees arriving at Asturias airport can take a taxi or public transportation.

By taxi:

You can take a taxi from the airport to Gijón or Oviedo. The estimated travel time is about 35 minutes to Gijón and 40 minutes to Oviedo. Taxi rates are about 42 euros.

By bus:

You can also take a bus from the airport to Gijón or Oviedo. There are several buses a day that are scheduled to leave between 15 to 20 minutes after the scheduled flight arrival time. You have plenty of time to take these buses to Gijón and Oviedo. The bus rate to Gijón and Oviedo is 5.45 euros.
