Vinton Cerf participates in "Fundamentos Web 2006" (Web Foundations 2006), to take place in Oviedo, 3-5 October

The creator of the basic Internet architecture, will be joined by relevant Web researchers and experts

After last edition's level of participation, when almost half thousand specialists coming from eight different countries attended, the second edition of the Fundamentos Web (Web Foundations) conference has been announced to take place in Oviedo, October 3rd to 5th and will have the participation of Vinton Cerf, known as one of the 'fathers' of the Internet since he designed the TCP/IP protocol and basic Internet architecture in the 60s. Cerf was awarded with the Prince of Asturias Award for Scientific and Technical Research in 2002.

Fundamentos Web 2006 is organized by Fundación CTIC and the W3C Spanish Office and is supported by the e-Asturias 2007 strategy for the development of the Information Society. For this year's edition, the conference also has also the sponsorship Microsoft and Adobe, and the collaboration of the online edition of the newspaper El Mundo and the specialized magazine PC Actual.

The topics will be centered in the interoperability of Web applications to provide the needed base to create dynamic and efficient applications which carry out a communication and an accessible information exchange from anywhere, at anytime, and using any device.

Vinton Cerf's participaction will take place via videconference in an interview-debate panel chaired by the Director of Elmundo.es, Gumersindo Lafuente; the Country Marketing Manager for Google Spain, Bernardo Hernández; the professor of the Instituto de Empresa Business School, Enrique Dans, and the founder of Periodistas XXI, Juan Varela.

Internationally Renowned Speakers

Several World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and related researchers will be in Oviedo, such us Dean Jackson, Rich Web Applications Activity Lead who focuses in user interface technologies and document formats; Richard Ishida, Internacionalización Activity Lead, whose mission is to ensure universal access to the Web; and Daniel Applequist, Senior Technology Strategist for Vodafone and Chair of the Mobile Web Best Practices Working Group at W3C.

There will be even more noted speakers: Bob Regan, Director of Web Accesibility for Adobe; Chris Wilson, group program manager for Internet Explorer; Ben Hammersley, one of the most recognized experts in RSS, used to syndicate content, and who coined the term podcasting; Kevin Yank, PHP and Web developer; and Dave Shea, expert in the styling language for Web pages (CSS).

Wed design experts will also take part in the conference, such us Molly E. Holzschlag, well-known Web standards advocate, Group Lead for the Web Standards Project (WaSP) and co-author of more than thirty books; and Andy Clarke, an internationally known speaker, designer and consultant focusing on creative, accessible Web development. Both will give a workshop on Web design on the third day of the conference.
