» Actualidad » Prensa » Asturias, an International Web Design Forum AgainGIJÓN, 24th October.- Asturias will turn into the international forum on analysis of the latest Web design and development advances. The forth edition of 'Fundamentos Web' will be bring together tree hundred specialists from different countries, approximately, on October 27-28.
In these four years, Fundamentos Web has become one of the most appealing for professionals of this area. Spain is the meeting point of the main international experts on this field. In this edition, there will be held an homage to John Slatin, died this year. Slatin, who participated in the conferences in 2005, contributed greatly to the field of Web accessibility.
This event, which is supported by the Government of the Principality, is organized by, both CTIC, and the W3C Spain Office, which celebrates its fifth birthday, from its official presentation after the World Web Consortium chose Asturias as their Spanish Office host.
The W3C Spain Office is hosted by CTIC, in the Parque Científico Tecnológico of Gijón. It was the result of an ambitious project, which competed against other candidatures, and finally won, after a Consortium's exhaustive evaluation.After five years, the office located in Gijón has shown itself to be a good example of the opportunities offered by Internet and the Information Society for peripheral regions such as Asturias. It has enabled its incorporation into the main international researching groups.
Asturias as part of W3C, in addition of the CTIC's activities as a server of Web technologies advanced services, and the Asturian industry specialization, has placed Asturias in a privileged position in order to take part in the future Internet development.
In this year's edition, there will be present the co-founder and President of Adaptive Path, Jesse James Garrett, who will explain the way the Web is headed towards, through an analysis of the latest development innovations. Also, Eric Fain, who works focused on mental models applied to Web design.
Furthermore, other specialists such as Steve Faulkner, technical director at The Paciello Group in Europe, and Becky Gibson (IBM), will talk about their latest projects on Web accessibility.
This year, Web Content Management Systems take a highlighted place in a panel moderated by the Chief Standards Officer at Opera, Charles McCathieNevile, where will be Dries Buytaert, Drupal; Wilco Jansen, Joomla!; and Alejandro Alves, OpenCMS.
Another panel will analyze the Web designers and developers employment market. Six specialists, who work in Spain, will show proposals for the future.
Finally, Carlos Guadián, consultant, will talk about Social Media in the industry and public administrations. He will analyze the new relationship strategies which are growing up.
The second day, 28th October, will be completely centred on two workshops. One of this focused on the use of non-intrusive Ajax, by the well-known developer Peter-Paul Koch. The other workshop, about aspects related to the way to adapt the web design to the human behaviour, will be held by Eric Fain.
